Dear AES families,
My name is Martha Dinges, and I’m the Co-President of this year’s PTO. On behalf of the PTO board, I want to begin by saying a big thank you! Thank you for choosing to join PTO this year. Your participation truly makes a difference! Thank you for your donations and for your many hours of volunteer work. Together, we have and will continue to make such a difference at AES!
Though this is my first experience being on a PTO board, I was an elementary teacher in Tennessee for 9 years. When asked to be a part of the PTO board, I realized that my professional experience would likely provide some insight that would be helpful to PTO. Our main goal is to help our school, our administration and our teachers to provide the best possible education for our kids, and I think we are accomplishing this goal!
Already just this year, with the help of many volunteers, the PTO has been able to:
- host a welcome back breakfast for the teachers and staff,
- purchase Study Island software for our students,
- purchase supplies and other items for students in need,
- welcome the Watch DOG dads with a pizza party,
- find and hire a company of professional science educators to run the science lab,
- freshen up the school grounds, and
- purchase new furniture for the library!
None of this would be possible without our volunteers, and I hope that you’ll all consider volunteering to help with some of the things PTO has coming up throughout the school year. Whether you have time to give during school hours or not, there is always a spot where we need help! Please sign up on the website for any volunteer opportunities you may be interested in, and feel free to reach out to me directly with any questions or other ideas you may have!
We’re looking forward to a great year at AES! I hope to see you at Spirit Nights, events, and other opportunities coming up soon!
Thanks,
Martha Dinges
